Boris Larramendi was born in Havana, Cuba, where he started playing guitar at the age of 15. He developped a personal style, based on poetic lyrics and strong, deeply felt live performances, which he displayed in a large number of concerts. After participating in many bands, concerts and cuban festivals as a guitar player, Boris joined the group Debajo to record Habana Oculta, an anthology of young cuban songwriters and composers, produced by the spanish label Nube Negra. In 1998 and as a member of Habana Abierta, he recorded one of the three magnificent records the band created: Habana Abierta, followed by 24 Horas and Boomerang. In 2005 he started performing as vocalist and frontman of the band Habana Blues, widely acclaimed by the audience and the critics as well.
Boris has toured around the world and has taken part in some of the most important current music festivals, such as Doctor Music Festival, Festival Bilbao Tropical, Festival BAM, Festival ETNOSUR, Festival Valle de Ainsa, Festival La Mar de Músicas Cartagena, Festival Womad de Canarias, Festival Amnistía Internaciona. Boris has also been a collaborator of some of the greatest figures of latin music, such as Ana Belén, Lucrecia, Raimundo Amador, Chavela Vargas, Las Hijas del Sol or Kelvis Ochoa.
His solo debut, the remarkable record Yo no tengo la culpa (It´s not my fault), was produced by Alejo Stivel and is a unique blend of Cuban traditional music, grunge and acid jazz. He is currently working on his second album: LIBRE.
